Bahco have launched a range of heavy duty digging tools for the professional gardener, landscaper, builder and plumber. Bahco digging tools are the ideal companion on site and offer the professional user durability and quality.
Most of the tools have special epoxy paint on the steel components to prevent rust as well as soil sticking to the tool. Border tools have a longer reach and can help the user reach wider borders and under shrubs.
As with all things Bahco, quality is the centrepiece of all their products and their digging tool range is no different. The handles on their shovels, spades and forks feature a D-grip made of black polypropylene (PP) with a soft grip made of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPR). The trenching and post hole shovels have a soft grip made of polyvinylchloride (PVC) foam. The shafts on this range are made of oval fiber glass with the tube overmoulded with orange PP; the diameter is 29 x 33 mm. They have two lines of grip profile along the tube and the Bahco logo is tampo-printed.
The head of a Bahco digging tool is powder coated with a matt finish and the metal sheet used for the head is at least 2mm thick. To ensure that the head doesn’t separate, they are attached with dual rivets that affix’s the shaft in the socket. They have a chromium plated power collar with soft edges that allows a smooth transition between the shaft and the socket, and the insert features profiled and reinforced PP tube – no wooden fillings. The spades and shovels feature a footrest or tread that is between 47mm and 60mm – dependent on blade width, and a depth of 30mm to 33mm. They have a profile that prevents the user from side slipping.
Bahco’s trenching shovel is designed for digging narrow trenches when laying cable and pipes; they can also be used for cleaning agricultural drainage. They feature a hardened blade made of 50 Mn steel with a sheet thickness of 2.4 mm. The treaded blade enables good foot pressure, and the turned edges on the blade retain the soil.
If digging post holes is your game, Bahco’s post hole digger is designed for digging drains and clearing and mixing works. It has the ergonomic and safety features of the trenching shovel – the grip and shaft are very similar. The post hole digger is made with the same steel but this model is powder coated. The post hole digger features reinforced ribs to provide additional blade strength and a large tread with profile enabling good foot pressure when digging.
Bahco’s digging spade is for digging in garden soils; work in the field, and around the house. It is used by professional and amateur gardeners. If the tradie owns one of these, it is a safe bet he will also have a Bahco digging fork. The head is made of C45 steel which is welded. It features hardened steel prongs (9 x 9 mm) that are powder coated. It is used for digging and cultivating all types of soil, loosening top soil, and working in organic material.
Other products in the range includes Bahco’s rake used by landscapers and professional gardeners for levelling and preparing soil, and for spreading dressings. It has 16 straight tines and a socket for fixing the handle. For the plumber and landscaper Bahco offers a mattock for breaking hard soil, concrete and other surfaces. It is also used for grubbing out stumps, roots and for trenching. It features a cutter end (both ends sharpened) and a fibre glass handle.
Finally, Bahco offers the professional a post hole digger-pincer. The handles are made of steel tubes with hardened steel blades. It is equipped with non slip rubber grips and is powder coated. Professionals use it for digging post holes and planting holes, as well as holes for in ground support.
Bahco manufactures a premium range of digging tools for plumbers, gardeners, builders, and landscapers. They bring over 150 years of experience and its world renowned QA process that ensures that the professional is equipped with only the best tools.
